Let's face it, we're not making a big splash at this point. Here's the likely, swap in your favorite LW on the UFA list for Boedker if you don't like that choice, could literally be anyone at this point.

This made me chuckle. I agree that is is way too high. He's a 1 year contract type guy as well. Bruins defensive depth in the minors is stacked and we can't have big contracts like that taking up potential spots. We already have Kevan Miller and Adam McQuaid (unless moved). I don't understand why people are just assuming we're not going to do anything. That's really annoying. Like damn, Bruins fans. Get some ******* patience and just allow Sweeney to do his job. There's nothing worse than criticizing something that hasn't happened yet. It's just pointless. If the team is the same come October 13, 2016 THEN you criticize.

I mean, Sweeney made some good subtle moves today, and people are unhappy. Jesus....

Look at where we're at. The Stamkos Shakeup is dead. This is a very likely situation. We know he's had good talks with Liles. Liles made 3.8 mil this year, if they bring him back it's not going to be for less. The rest of these signings:

FA YEARS CAP HIT
Liles, John-Michael 2 $4,000,000
Stempniak, Lee 2 $2,000,000
Kelly, Chris 2 $2,000,000
Ferraro, Landon 3 $750,000
Morrow, Joe 3 $950,000
Miller, Colin 3 $650,000
Ferlin, Brian 3 $950,000

Leaves us with about 7 mil in cap space, we'll grab another winger around 4-5 mil and that's it.

Edit: For the record, I like what Sweeney has done so far, but looking at our cap and knowing who we're in talks with right now, unless we do something drastic and then start making some major trades, this is the roster that should be expected.

I'm fine with a soft rebuild if that's the plan, but I've yet to see the team successfully balance the long term and short term. I have a weird feeling that there's a "Matt Martin for 4@4.5 mil" contract coming down Causway. I can't see a scenario where the Jacobs want to see the B's fighting for the eighth spot and falling short for a third year in a row, but I also know that Sweeny has done a solid job of stocking the system with promising young players that will need a few seasons to develop. I'm vowing to wait until October to see what's on the ice.

Martin for 1.125M a year or 4.5M a year? I'll take him for less than 2M per year.
