I don't hate NJ. I am jealous however of the two 1st overall picks over the course of 3 years where my team (DET) has the least amount of ROWs yet hasn't picked higher than 6th.

You guys always draft well though and now that you have Stevie Y? Bright years ahead for you...just gotta stay more patient than you already have been

The drafting well thing is a myth.

Realistic fans have been patient for 5+ years now because even the last few playoff teams were just limping in to the playoffs and had no shot at a cup.

Dude c'mon Holland was a pretty solid GM.... Larkin is a bonafide stud, Zadina was an absolute steal and hes going to be good, Mantha is a beast, Veleno, McIssac, Hronek - your prospect pool is impressive and those guys might get a shot sooner rather than later

Any playoff team has a shot at the cup. See 2011-2012 standings for proof.

LA didn't exactly limp in to the playoffs that season and NJ was right there points wise with the top East teams. I do agree though that in any playoff season 13-14 teams have a shot at the cup.

from 2010-2015 they drafted poorly, only a handful got signed and beyond Svechnikov, Ehn, Larkin, Mantha, Bertuzzi and Athanasiou the rest barely played or were hot garbage when they did. You may think by the guys I named they did well, 6 good players in 6 years is not doing well. Only half were in the first round. Truly terrifying

Holland was absolutely terrible at cap and asset management.

I do agree the future looks bright.

There is also Sheahan, Jurco, Jarnkrok, and Janmark in that group. Sheahan faded away. Jurco had a back injury and terrible usage. Jarnkrok and Janmark were victims of poor asset management.

I saw Janmark and was like well that's unfortunate

Jarnkrok threatened to bail to Sweden if he didn't get a shot in the NHL. The two were traded for a couple games of Erik Cole and a couple weeks of David Legwand. Asset Management 101 lol
