Florida doesn't have the cap to make that deal. Flames should be happy getting rid of cap and not even worry about the return....like so many other teams.

You know that’s inaccurate when trading Brodie, Frolik, fine, Brodie brings a decent return. Pennies on the dollar I’m sure but still a return.

Agreed that Florida is not best fit for Brodie, but Brodie is not a cap dump. Dude is a top 4 dman in almost every team in the league, on both sides of the defence pairing. What you're suggesting would be a brutal example of asset management

That is what should happen with Frolik and Stone. We are not trading Brodie due to cap issues (that's Frolik and Stone's reason) but because we simply have no spot for him on our team because of Andersson and Kylington and Valimaki and we need more middle-six forwards.

There are so many teams close to over the cap once their RFA signings are completely. Just so few buyers of players with cap and not returning cap. Yea I agree the Flames are stronger with Brodie. But soon there will be a multitude of teams needing to dump some good vets for cap reasons. It's almost what we are seeing with a couple of UFAs such as Gardiner and Williams, teams have set their roster and cap. I would hate to be that team come September 30, having 23 signed and over the cap by 4m. What to do?

And there are teams that do have the cap space that still need upgrades in their top 4. You think Tampa is going to roll forward with their current signed dman, even with Point a priority? MTL needs a left hander, so do teams like CLB or NYI.
