Description
the leafs will need to trade one of Dmytro Timashov or Zach Hyman. Timashov is not waiver exempt and NHL-ready, great playmaker, for a small guy plays like he's 6'6, can play penalty kill which the leafs NEED, and is young at 22 years old. Hyman is coming off a quiet 20 goal season, hes very much similar to Timashov but carrying a 2.25 average for 2 more years and he's 27 so relatively older in the league and there is zero chance in two years hes re-signed due to players like Robertson. I can't be the only one thinking putting Timashov in the press box after Hyman is back is an absolute WASTE, and putting Timashov on waivers is never going to happen the leafs need to choose one because I'll tell you now their sure as hell not trading 24-yo Mikheyev and Moore. I don't think it will happen before opening night, I think they'll see how well Timashov translates in the NHL then make their decision.

Speaking of wasting players, Petan, I can live with an agostino sitting in the press box but not Petan, IMO he's too good to be there and unfortunatley it sounds like there will be no room for Petan, the only way he gets in is if Aberg cant pull off 4th line RW which he probably will. If Babcock does what he did last year not playing Petan there is simply no need for him, I'd rather have him in the minors than seeing him get worse in the press box, teams will take him and I could see him going along with a pick to a team like Dallas and pick up Honka. If Aberg makes the lineup, Petan will be traded.

Timashov will go on waivers because he'll clear. There are dozens of players like him that go on waivers every year, each team has one so we shouldn't worry about that.
Hyman is way better than Timashov. It's not even close. He will re-sign in 2 years because he has value and is a multifaceted player.
Petan can hit the waiver wire.. He's proven nothing in the NHL so why are people worried about losing him? Let him help the Marlies. 24pts in 113 NHL games, he doesn't kill penalties or serve any other purpose other than offense and he doesn't bring offense. What am I missing here? I see a guy that's afraid of the corners and front of the net. Pass!!

I do not see Timashov as the same player as Hyman at all. None, absolutely none of the scouting reports I have read about Timashov have him as an NHLer thia year. Most as a fringe NHLer at best. What am I missing? By far the weakest organziatuonal position.

Scouting reports also say Liligren isn't ready - and that message is 100% consistent. Wrong move. Schmatlz slides im there short term at least.

But yeah. Play the snot out of Petan. I wanna see what he can do given hos pedigre..... and thank you for signing Marner to a makes sense contract.

Not sure I am agreeing with yout Petan assessment. Never really got a shot in Winnipeg. Has a legit shot with the Leafs bottom 6. I roll the dice on a guy playing for an NHL career.

They gave him 26 games one year and 54 the next, he threw up 13pts in 54 games.
How is that not a chance?
From there he has been a fill in because that's what he's proven to be.

Never saw the fit in Winnipeg. Numbers reflect that.

Good players don't need the perfect fit, they can make it work

Was Marc Savard a good player? I believe he was. Look at him when in Calgary.

When he was producing 50 and 60 points in Calgary you mean?
Yeah okay, that really compares to Petan and his career total of 24 points
