why trade Skjei? besides Trouba he's their only legitimate top 4 d-man. Marc Staal definitely is turning the clock back to 2012 and becoming the player he was before.

Skjei really only had 1 good year too and he got paid im not suggesting hes elite by any means but you have to recognize the improvement Dlo made

Wings have alot of young defense talent in the system. Wings are not trading AA for a defenseman on a big contract for 5 years at 5.25 million and who has only had 25 points each of the last two years. We already have that in Dekeyser.
Also Anthanisou is a 30 goal scorer on a good contract and will still be a RFA after this year.

Anthanisou is one of the core building blocks going forward in the Wings rebuild.

I do I like DLo, I do, but I value guys who can really play a good defensive game well, and that's what Skjei has done, I think he's had terrible partners as well and that hampers his numbers too. I do believe in DLo though hopefully he can solidify his defensive game and he will for sure be a standout top 4 guy for the Rags. But just cuz of his development doesn't make Skjei expendable especially cuz New York's left side is awful after him.

Eventually Dlo himself might become expendable with fox
