Colorado Avs two years ago where having a terrible 48 pts season. They are now contenders. It goes fast. No, it is not certain we are contenders in 2 years but like he said, with the right move and guys like Caufield, KK, Poehling, Romanov and Brook and an healty Price, I like our chances.

If they develop the way the media says

Caufield tie Ovi U18 record and destroy Kessel/Matthews goal record.
KK Played in the NHL at 18 years old and was looking solid. #1-2 center in the futur 100 %
Romanov played in the KHL at only 18 years old and was named the best D (with Branstromm) at the u20. His potential his not clear but could be a good top 4.
Poehling was U20 MVP and have 3 full NCAA season under his belt. #2-3 Center in the NHL seems legit
Brook was really good at last year training camp and just post a amazing season in the WHL. (Best D pts producer). A PP specialist maybe
Forget the media, these are all facts (not the potential I gave them but the first part for each player). They wont all turn out has I expected here but I havent talk you about Suzuki, Ylonen and Primeau yet !

All the trades on here are trying to patch together something short term. fact is our young guys are just not ready yet. So why waste assets this year. Just let them develop. Yes we will probably have to move some young talent when the time comes. Good problem to have.

Some habs fans (me included) are very hight on our kids because compare this group with Sherback,Mccaron and Tinordi....Honestly we were dead last in "prospect pool" 3 years ago and now we are in the top 5. When you think about it his hat trick is insane. He was on the 4rth line with Weal and Deslauriers and scores 3 times on 3 shot hahaha. Not gonna happen soon. Of course Poehling is not Matthews but it is nice too see him gain confidence. He also wont have the pressure too score his first goal next year. I dont know is roof (potential) but #2 two way center would be nice for a #25th pick.
