If Marner doesn't want term on his deal and the Leafs don't want to walk him to UFA I'm not sure how many more numbers are possible... that eliminates 5,6,7,8 year terms and it's probably not realistic to suggest a 1 year term which leaves 2,3,4

You're both wrong, hes getting 27 years at 14.16 million a season with a signing bonus of 40 million a year. I heard that from Paul

I suppose if you can't get Marner for 2 yrs at 8.5, you could drop Petan or another player to the minors and give Marner 9.5M for 2yrs?

Agreed. I think you could also bring Gardiner down by 250k if you added another year of term and you could allocate that to Marner's salary

Because the new tv deal begins in 2 years and if the cap rises to 100mln (expectations) then his % of the cap equivalent to the 11.5mln he wants now would be 14mln
