Explanation:

Trade:
Nashville: Krieder for Tolvanen and a 2nd - Nashville pairs a top 6 LW with newly added Duchene to make a run. Rangers don't get a 1st, but a solid prospect and a late 2nd.

Minnesota: Namestikov for a 4th - Good middle six depth swiss army knife. Rangers clear needed cap space.

Ottawa: Cap Floor/ Cap Space trade. OTT gets a good prospect and pick and Rangers move Smith.

Vegas: Rangers take on the big contract and get Gusev, but do not give up a 2nd. With a contract that big a 3rd and a young NHL ready center with potential is plenty.

Vancouver: They get a solid middle six center and depth to add to their build. Rangers clear cap.

RFAs:
Trouba get his.

Buch gets a bridge deal. Let him prove himself. ALso tons of young potential wingers taht can take over his spot in teh future (ex: Kakko or Kravstov)

Deangelo is the same situation as Buch. Needs to prove its real and here to stay. Can be traded for solid picks if he does pan out, but there is just no space with the depth.

Lemieux - Prove himself depth deal.

Gusev: traded for and extended at a solid cap hit.
