Description
Overpaying Marner hype.

Assume Gauthier + 1 of Holl/Marincin are on the roster until Hyman/Dermott come off IR. Also considering the Leafs have told Ceci they see him playing with Reilly or Muzzin.

That buffalo trade makes no sense. Lindgren has been progressing very well and Bracco is our best forward prospect. For an lhd prospect? Don’t get it..,

Expanding on your post I don't understand what is going to happen in the AHL this year. And I don't understand why d prospects like Kivilhalme and the NCAA dude sign with us. Plus I think I heard we signed a couple AHL D to AHL deals and this dude Gravel and Harpur.

Where the hell are all these guys gonna play.

There are 6 NHL playing spots and one MAYBE 2 bench slots, and 6 AHL slots, but frankly if you want to be an NHL defenseman you better not be a bottom pairing AHL dman for long.

Kivihalme appeared to be a marlies signing. Atleast that’s what I thought when they signed him. Duszak is a great pickup. Could see him breaking into the lineup after next season. Who knows maybe sooner. You never know what dubas is up to. I thought Rosen was a lock for bottom pair this year... nope gone. I think generating a solid defence is about brute force. The more competitive your prospect pool is the better chance you have at producing a solid nhl score. I mean next season we have Rielly... home is the only nhl Dman under contract. The way I see depth and players hopeful to make the jump

LHD-Rielly, Muzzin,Dermott, Marincin, Borgman,Sandin Harper,Kivihalme, Gravel.

9players for 6 spots and don’t forget that there is also the growlers and European leagues.

RHD- Barrie, Ceci, Holl, liljegren, Duszak, Hollowell, Lindgren, Rasanen

8 players for 6 spots.

I like what the future holds... I will say one thing though other than Rasanen and Harpur... it’s not a big defence.

I don’t Know... Rielly lol. What team? This trade is very bad for the leafs, or lhd depth is fine, so is our rhd depth at the moment.

https://theathletic.com/835754/2019/02/25/stimson-how-ahl-development-for-several-players-may-have-cost-the-sabres-at-the-nhl-level-this-year/

Ryan Stimson talks about him there. Just a concept that I think Bracco's value might be best served going after a young D with upside (unless you lose Marner and need to see if you can get him to reach his ceiling). Someone like Pilut seems like he could crush 3rd pairing minutes with maybe 2nd pair LD upside.

Ultimately the leafs 2RD is Travis Dermott I think. Starting as ealy as later next season once he gets up to speed post injury.
