Description
2011 Tyler Biggs #22 BUST. Tyler never fit into the Leafs system and never had the style to fit into the modern NHL. Was drafted for his size but it was his speed and skill that made him unable to stay at even an AHL level.

2011 Stuart Percy #25 BUST another player who never made it. Percy was pegged as a possible top 4 guy. Yet year after year, he became slower and outdated as he was passed by other defense in the Leafs system.

2012 Morgan Reilly #5 HIT, started slow under Burke but has thrived into an elite top 2 defense man. Was third in D points this year for all defense man in the NHL

2013 Frederik Gauthier #21 BUST, was drafted knowing his speed and offense needed to pick up to become an NHL player. They never did, he is a great face off artsiest tho and makes a living on the fourth line

2014 William Nylander #8 HIT Pure offsenive woah, can skate around other players with ease and is a master passer. Has struggled under Babcocks system but hes already averaging nearly 60 points a season.

2015 Mitch Marner #4 HIT, top 5 play maker in the league, has amazing speed and hands to match. had a 90 plus point season finally playing with a true center. Will easily hit 100 points next season.

2016 Auston Matthews #1 HIT, top ten center in the league, has dominated at every level. Injuries have cut nearly every year short, still a point per game regardless and the best 5v5 goal scorer in the NHL

2017 Timothy Liljegren #17 MEH, injuries dropped him far down the list at the 2017 draft. They continue to affect his game. When healthy his been a good AHL player. Its up to him to take the next step this season and push for a spot on the right hand side on the Leafs.

2018 Rasmus Sandin #29 TOO EARLY, He has had great AHL numbers and could see alot of time on the Leafs this year. he still needs to grow more but his skills are those that can match some of the better offensive defense man prospects

Don't forget he traded the picks that became Rakell and Gibson for Biggs. How he ever had a job is beyond me

Yes I agree with all that but consider what the domino effect. Without those trades the leafs probably were a better team and would not have been in a position to draft Nylander, Marner and Matthews.

I know, but those were all no brainers. Any pick that Burke made outside the top 10 was a flop

I agree he had bad picks and bad trades. I am just pointing out the one silver lining of it all.

Brian Burke has got to be the worst GM in Leafs history. No idea why the team would hire an American to lead in their organization. Especially given how horribly he had done with the Ducks.
