Ottawa no longer needs contracts to reach the cap floor. The have a cheap owner and a team full of players already. They don't need to be other teams dumping grounds any longer.

Dorion said he was in the market to pick up older veterans that can help the youngsters and collect draft picks or prospects in the process.

As would any team with cap space and not an owner clenching every dollar like its his last.

He means cheap veterans and/or if the picks are right. 6M for a late 2nd rounder. Does that sound like something Melnyk is going for?

(If i was him, i'd be all over this. Im saying this doesn't reflect remotely close to what Ottawa is doing now what the owner wants, not to mention the players who would have to sit and get paid to do it like Smith or Boedker. There are only so many spots on the roster)
