I like the idea of signing Jake Gardiner but he wants a lot more then 3 million

Edmonton needs defence (and everything, really, lol) and i agree. I wouldn't give him much more though unless it's short term. I really don't think he's worth much more. He'll ask for more though and probably WILL get a lot more, whether he should or not. I think he's maybe a 3.5M-4M player to tell the truth. He could be a top 4 d-man but it's a big risk. I've never thought he's as good as some do. I said he was overrated, and recently i have been less sure of that because so many people started to say he's really bad. But now i'm starting to feel like he's overrated again, because so many people think he's a top pairing d-man who's worth 6.5M. I wouldn't give him that as any team unless it's for like a year or whatever. I wouldn't give him 6X6.5M ... too risky. People will probably start calling it a bad contract at some point. It's hard to predict what will happen with him when he plays for his new team (assuming it's not Toronto as they can't sign him with their cap problems).

I think after being the whipping boy for so many years both he and Toronto are done with one another, originally I felt that he was worth more but since he remains unsigned now I am not so sure, he might command more but I could see a 1 year deal where he makes about 3 mill in a bet on himself situation

Bergevin would either laugh at that offer or lose his job. Montreal would be insane to give up Caufield alone for Darnell Nurse, let alone that plus Alzner, a 2nd, and eating the Lucic contract.

Nurse is a top 4 left shot dman, Caufield is some small kid who scored riding shotgun with Jack Hughes who hasn't proven that he can even play in the nhl yet. If Edmonton said Nurse for Caufield straight up MTL would be stealing. And Lucic contract is only one year more then Alzner so
