The thing I like about this is the fact that Gaudreau and Marner are both small speedsters and theyd both be playing with big power forwards in Matthews and Tkachuk

The pros for the Flames is that they get a younger (better) player on a longer contract and a equal defensman who again has a longer contract. Maybe the 1st is too much but the ground work is there for a good deal

No. There aren't really any pros for Calgary. Okay, they get a younger player. whatever. They get a crappy contract in Zaitsev, and then they have to pay Marner almost double what they're paying Johnny. Now they're giving up a first? If they were both RFAs, it makes some sense, but it just blows up their cap structure.

Love marner, huge leaf fan. Is he better than Johnny Hockey? I wouldn't say that.

They have to pay marner 4-5 million more.

Nothing here makes sense for the flames.

They have less than 13 mill in cap space without Thachuk signed which you gotta think is absolute minimum 9 million.
