Description
A lot of youth on this team. I could see Kapanen and soshnikov starting the year in the NHL but getting sent down depending on how they play(you can flip flop kapanen with Hyman who played well with Willie). it will also depend on what happens in the upcoming FA window. When it comes to marner, i cant see him playing in the OHL again as it wouldnt help his development because he would probably score 200 points lol..i may just be speaking as a leaf fan here but I seriously feel that in a weak eastern conference that we're 1 top 4 dman away from being a playoff team with the addition of Auston and Freddy Andersen. For the shattenkirk trade, i do not think it will take much for a team to land shattenkirk as it is clear the blues want to move him. yes we will have to resign him after this season but we have over 10 million in cap space freeing up from 3 players alone (Greening, Laich and michalek) so we will easily be able to resign him for 6+ which is what he'll be asking for. in terms of what we're giving up for shattenkirlk, it hurts the leafs in no way but maybe the blues will ask for a 1st rounder instead of the 2nd but im not sure the leafs will trade a first. (i would trade the first cause shattenkirk fast tracks the rebuild) so the trade is iffy. this is how i see the leafs roster shaping up this upcoming year. When it comes to the bozak deal, its simple. NJ has 27 million in cap space and theyre gunna need help making it to the cap floor, and they need help in the middle, bozak can do this. a 5th is a fair price to give and receive on both sides because this will allow the leafs to sign stamkos. This team could and would make the playoffs in a shit east. #GoLeafsGo

    Shattenkirk deal doesn't go through.
St. Louis is a playoff team looking to be a strong Cup contender. They don't move Shattenkirk for a surprise bag of 3 prospects, they move him for a starter + pick (they need 1 NHL ready player in return).

Also you really undervalued Bozak in that trade. There are probably 10 NHL teams willing to give you at least a 4th rounder for him (probably 6-7 teams would give you a 3rd)

theyre also tight to the cap so their asking price cant be too high because they wont be able to afford much.

I get that but that trade makes them worse. I think Shattenkirk is a good player and a 4.25mil cap hit for a #2-4 D men is a fair price. I don't get why they want to move him in the first place

i have no idea why they would want to move him either.. especially if they dont resign backes then theres an extra 4 mill that you could potentially give him it makes no sense.

I could see us going after Shattenkirk but not with those players. I could see maybe Bozak and Hunwick and 31st overall. most people consider 31 as a 1st round pick, Bozak gives them a quality 2/3center and Hunwick is a solid 3rd pair D who can play top 4 min in a pinch. For a team looking to go after a cup center depth and D depth is pivotal to any run. They could add a 2 tier prospect but your right 1st are too valueable to a team.

They probally don't want Bozak. The big point to remember is they are trading Shattenkirk for cap room to sign one of their 2 biggest leaders in Backes + Brower. I think a Kapanen + 31 deal is what they would target and your GM would try to talk the price lower.
