Isles say no. We aren't trading a cheap 2nd pairing defenseman for a CAP dump. Bracco is an interesting add, but still not worth taking on Zaitsev's contract, especially when we are already trying to find a spot for Dobson and have too many RHD's as it is.

That was one of the other things I was thinking about. If I take out zaitsev does that make the deal more appealing? Zaitsev can be moved elsewhere to a team in need of rhd.

The going rate for mayfield was brown and a 2nd about halfway through the season.

Personally I would rather not move Bracco. What do you see as a trade options for mayfield?

Honestly, I don't want to move Mayfield. He's on a cheap contract and made great improvements last year playing second pairing minutes the second half of the season. He was one of our best shot blockers and, based on eye test alone, moved the puck out of the zone pretty well.

I don't know much about Bracco other than I saw he put up 79 points in the AHL last year and is from Long Island. Based off that alone, I'd say Mayfield and a 3rd for Bracco? Or perhaps, Mayfield, Ho-Sang and a 5th?

Gives Toronto a solid 2nd pairing RHD on a cheap contract, something they need with the CAP situation and a mid round pick or a prospect and a late round pick, while the Isles get another prospect to add to the pool.

Bortuzzo is a lot of things but a top pair defenceman he is definitely not. He's a bottom pair guy plain and simple.

I don’t really doubt that mayfield is a player they would like to keep. When Dobson is ready for 2nd pair mayfield could be moved down and not be a financial burden on third pair.

My other options were demelo, stecher and possibly Myers. Mayfield is always in the top of my list due to that odd contract.

Haha, yeah, that was one of the smart things Snow did as GM. Got both Pelech and Mayfield locked up to long term, VERY team friendly deals. Both of them have turned out to be steals on those deals.
