I think the trades are fair, but want those 5th round picks. Griffith, O'Gara and Bjork are all 5th rounders and they could all have an important role on this team a couple years out.

so a 5th round pick is the deal breaker for you

        Vesey traded to the sabres.

His rights were traded to the Sabres. Until he signs on the dotted line, he isn't a Sabre. His agent also came out and said that he will still wait until UFA to decide so your team, thus far, wasted a 3rd round pick.

Kind of. We need to fire those extra shots if we're gonna hit the target. Late round steals get more common every year.

Though I don't like him at all, he did recoup a 5th in the draft. I don't think the Trouba deal is realistic (i feel they'd want a lot more) but two 5ths wouldn't be a dealbreaker at all.

By the time a 5th matures into an NHL player (4-5 years) Bergeron & the core will be in full decline. 5ths are pretty worthless, especially in a trade that lopsided for Boston to begin with

Better than wasting it on zac rinaldo! Hahaha

Also the agent's quotes don't mean much, I don't believe there's nothing there to contract talks....all for show

Bruins made up for it by taking Jesse Gabrielle in the 4th round so who cares. You don't believe his agent? Of course you don't lol, you obviously want Vesey to sign there, so why would you think there's 'nothing there'. Like I said before, until he signs on the dotted line, his rights to Buffalo mean nothing.

Agreed...it's a bit of a wierd trade considering every team can offer him the same max of $925k so either:
        a) Buffalo has a good idea that he's willing to sign there; or
        b) Buffalo thinks they're not on his radar and want the chance to convince him of their plan and his role in it

I gotta imagine he has his mind made up already and if it's Boston he wants, then Buffalo getting his rights now means diddly squat

Well said. His rights getting traded to Buffalo mean that they can talk to his agent without tampering. It means nothing. He could want Toronto, or Boston, or Pittsburgh. You bring up a great point. Every team can offer him the same...His agent came out and said he wants to reach F/A still. It's not like he's using this as a ploy to get more money. Why would he come public with anything? I think Vesey is going to want to sit down with his top choices and figure out what is best for him. That's why he's waiting.

There's still a very good chance he ends up in Boston, or Toronto, or anywhere else.

I just love how hostile Buffalo fans are getting when you let them know he's not a Sabre yet. They're so defensive.

It's the right trade to make if you want to make your team better. Obviously Buf heard something from the Vesey camp, he's been playing with Eichel for the last month + both have the same agent. I wouldn't act as though it's set in stone because the agent said he's still going to FA one hour after the trade happened. He obviously has to say that stuff don't want to look like anybodys tampering.
