93 million for 8 years, yes I know his agent says no to long term deals and wants 5 or 6 at the most. But that 93 number would be funny to include, if not the long term than maybe 9.3 million on a 2 year bridge deal?

SJ is in a cap crunch, they won't take Marleau.

I have bashed Marner more than ANYONE on this site, but if he signs for 8 years 11 mil is about the number he should get based on comparable percentages and the deals being signed these days. On 5 years it cant be more than 9 though

SJ is in a cap crunch, they won't take Marleau.

The exchange is 1.5 + 1.9 = 3.4 million for 4.125 of Marleau. The Sharks spend 725K more for an one 1 season cap hit and they gain a couple above average minor league prospects plus a bonus 2nd Rounder, I think lots of GM's would say yes please on that. That's actually an over payment.

Personally I believe if he wants Matthews money than he'll have to add the 3 extra seasons for the long term contract to allow the AAV adjustment to be fair. Matthews IS the main superstar(if he can stay healthy to prove it).
