Players aren't "forced" to sign extensions..thats why teams allow the trade partner to discuss extensions with the main player involved prior to making the trade. Everyone wins in those situations.

Fine. Then assuming Kreider doesn't want to sign an extension to stay in Calgary, and chooses to test the Free Agency waters, then this would be the deal.

Calgary is already strong on the left side ( Gaudreau, Tkachuk, Bennett, Mangipane) so no way they give up a 1st and a Grade A prospect for one year of Kreider. Stone is easily dealt with as he is in his last year and can be traded with retention or bought out if absolutely necessary.
