Description
I am not a TBL fan, however, I've done quite a bit of research on their cap situation and wanted some input...

Some decisions that can be made regarding the trade:
Tampa decides to include either Killorn or Palat in the deal, whichever one they value less in regards to their contract
Tampa decides who they value more between Asplund and Tage Thompson because both are on a similar level, both promising prospects
The biggest caveat with this trade would be
Callahan, Miller, and Killorn waiving their NTC's... which is a lot easier said than done.

I feel this trade can benefit Tampa in regards to their 2020 offseason, where they will have to sign Vasilevskiy for 8-9M, Cirelli, Joseph, Sergachev, Cernak (traded), and Rutta essentially without any money coming off the books. There is no way they can do this without getting rid of 2 of their current 4-6M forwards.

Also, this gives them money to resign either Stralman or Girardi on a 1 year deal so they don't have to throw Foote into the top 4 pairings if they determine he isn't ready yet... he is essentially the replacement for Cernak

Take away Cernek .. he ain't going anywhere .. and take away the #1 on other side of trade .. then deal is doable

Tampa has issue in who would be last D man to protect in Seattle draft .. after Hedmen and Cernek .. you have Mc Donough Sergachev and Foote .. one too many .. I would trade Sergachev now but your logic is similar with Cernek

Interesting Tampa has around the same it more protectable pieces at D as forwards ..and adding Risto would be another ..

I don't think this deal happens without Cernak... the Sabres would need to replace Risto and need to get some long-term compensation for this deal. Now the question is... would you ever give up Foote over Cernak? How truly NHL ready is Foote? Also, you wouldn't have to worry about losing Foote to Seattle because he will still be on his ELC. Tampa can keep him along with the other 4

Then there wouldn't be a deal. Tampa is not trading away a cost controlled young Dman that is defensively way better than Risto already and also have a good offensive upside

Honestly as a Lightning fan I want nothing to do with Risto. I think Callahan can be dumped without having to take someone like Risto back, for picks and prospects, and Miller can then be traded to help fill the hole on the right side of the defence. Miller doesn't have a NTC until July 1, and Callahan likely wont have Buffalo on his list (16 teams I believe) since hes from the area and knows hes on his way out of Tampa one way or the other.

Miller won't have a NTC what so ever, on July 1 he'll have a M-NTC with a 8 teams no trade list. So he's easily moveable. It's Gourde the one getting a NTC on July 1
