TJ Brodie has one year left no way Toronto trades kadri for him, Corey Perry would never take a 3 year deal that only pays 1 million a year

Then Brodie extends and Perry might. Anaheim is gonna pay him 2.5 for at least 3 more years (not sure the exact length) and his market value is about 3.5. Perry has never won so if he is going to make his market value anyways why wouldn't he accept and have a chance to win

Do you care to explain more? Toronto gets a top pair RHD which they don't have and a cheap replacement for Kadri. If your problem with this trade is that Toronto wouldn't trade for a one year term then you have no problem with it. If I'd have just put Brodie extends in the desc you wouldn't think it sucks and I wouldn't be typing this right now so how about you give me a different reason

Toronto gives you a 2nd round pick for TJ Brodie, The pick turns into a first round pick if he resigns but if he doesn't it remains a 2nd round pick

It's just an idea I was thinking about. I more did it because I want to see how many power plays we could get having a Tkachuk-Kadri-Perry line

Perry has a cup and and two Olympic Golds so I doubt he's playing the season for $1M even with potential buy out money. I think Anaheim could easily trade him with up to 50% retention instead of buying him out. He's still likely near a 0.5PPG RW'er who knows how to win, is a pain to play against; I think he just had an injury plagued season.

I think the Toronto trade is fair (Kadri for Brodie, a second, and Jankowski) for both teams. Calgary gets term, but Toronto gets a former first round developing center to replace him and at worst a #3D, plus a pick to keep supporting their expensive core group with good players on ELC's.

I completely forgot Perry had a Cup. Nvm then he wouldn't sign that deal. I just thought he might want to win a Cup for the first time but I guess he already has one

Although I wouldn’t mind Getting either of Zucker or Kadri, the valuations are crazy. Get real. If that’s the price there will not be a trade, and rightly so.

Calgary is not desperate, they would LIKE to make some changes but if not will have a very strong team battling for the Conference again and then the playoffs with a year of experience behind them. Internally they will be faster (Anderson, Kylington, Valimaki, Dube, and... Lazar...) and can be tougher (e.g Pospisil, Anderson...)

You said "tougher," yet you trade for Zucker??? That is counter-intuitive. Kadri, yes.

Yes, I know Zucker isn't tougher but I put it in because there is about a 75% chance he is a Flame by the end of the offseason

He would be a good speed/scoring add, but you guys already have a lot of that, which is why you (and the Leafs) got bumped. Playoff hockey requires some heft, and many of the past Finals have supported this. As much as I love my Blues and am ecstatic about the Cup win, Calgary should be targeting Schenn. I'm not sure the Note will re-sign him, so a good package offer from the Flames couldn't hurt the opportunity to add a heavy, playoff vet at 2nd center to team up with Tkachuk. That would be a tough second line.

I would think the price would be a bit high for the Flames due to the likeliness that the Blues see the Flames in the playoffs next year and maybe even against each other. Add to that the fact that Schenn is now a cup winner and the Blues just literally beat down their opponents showing the NHL that heavy hockey can still win...I'd think Doug Armstrong asks for Valimaki to start with. I know many people here often send Kylington out in trades, but the Blues philosophy is to have big defensemen. Kylington is "only" six feet tall, which is a bit small for the STL philosophy, so he probably won't do.
