Elaborate on the values please.
Sure I guess....Over the last 2 seasons
Namestnikov: 1.81 pts / 60 mins
Toffoli: 1.79 pts / 60 mins
Both had comparable possession stats.
Pretty remarkable that they were able to keep pace with each other given that Namestnikov had a Zone rating of 42, compared to 51 for Toffoli. In terms Sabres fans can get, Namestnikov is basically Evan Rodrigues defensively. Now imagine if Rodrigues was stuck shuffling around the 4th line for about half a year with guys like Sobotka, Thompson, Larsson, Girgensons, etc. And he still came out and scored 30 points...you'd probably think that'd be pretty impressive and perhaps the coach was weirdly holding him back...yeah that's kinda the idea.
Compared to Toffoli who spent the majority of the season with Kempe and Carter and just as much time with Drew Daughty as both of them...
So if we agree that your 4th and 5th at best equal the 3rd we're giving or come a little below.
The trade starts to roughly seem like Evan Rodrigues for a 2nd and Scandella. I think as a Sabres fan you'd ask to drop Scandella entirely. And you'd be correct in your evaluation of the trade...
