On the surface Alzner and Lucic seem pretty even but if you dig a bit deeper, Alzner contract is light years better than Lucic's. I think its important to remind ourselves that both guys are in the top 10 worst contracts in the league. there is no positive that can be made from swapping them. Even if lucic is a solid 4th liner and Alzner a bottom pairing dman. That's still a major failure and I would rather have the cheaper, less complicated failure than the more expensive one.

Maybe more Lehko + 2020 conditional 2nd (or a 3th if he goes UFA) but not bad.
I agree... NO to Lucic... Trade Alz in a year to Ottawa as is real salary yould be 2,5M3y with a 4,6M cap hit... They will need those type of deal to stay above the floor

Not at all. Simply getting a player that is being used on a 4th line compacity is not worth it at all. In fact its less worthy as you have his total cap hit against you cap. Alzner's cap is only 3.5M in the AHL.

There really is no logical reason to this. There is a reason Lucic's contract is widely regarded as the worst in the NHL. Its buyout proof where as Alzners is much easier.
