I'll try to make it work by keeping Marner.

23 players with 2M in cap.

- Marleau gone next year -> frees up 6.5M

Trading Nylander to get help in D (sorry but it makes sense hockey wise.) (and you do get a great asset in Ellis)

Kadri has to go -> the trade i've done is not perfect, but I got a 22yo prospect and a great back up goalie (so you don't suffer another season with Sparks) I would try to find better for sure...

Zaitiev is traded for another cheaper D...

Geez, it's not an easy job for Dubas...

MTL fans are laughing now... but we will feel the burn of cap hell in 2021 :)

I don't mind the Kadri trade. Laugh fans are getting too caught up on what they 'expect' to get in return for Kadri. His attitude come playoffs suck, hes been suspended or fined 7x. Not only does getting rid of Kadri free up any headaches, HE CLEARS CAP SPACE. Cap space is worth good players and picks. They need space for Marner Kapenen Johnsson. So I don't mind the Kadri trade, and Winnipeg should definitely accept, solid 30 goal scorer who can play defense.

I propose Dubas talks to Marner and he signs a 1 year at 9 mill. Then when the Marleau contract exipires, he gives him a 5 years at 11.5. Then, Marner can still sign an 8 year max at 27 years old

Unlikely... because if Marner loses a leg during the season... gets sick ect... he won't get that contract... While if you signed for 8 years.... you can be paid millions to sit on a radio talk show for years like Di Pietro.

Winnipeg is in the same boat as the leafs, they are trying to shed cap space so I don't see this happening. Besides Kadri is 29 and his best years are behind him and Roslovic is 22 and has Kadri potential.

The jets cap situation is a lot more Dire than that, even if they get rid of Perreault and Kulikov, sign and trade Trouba they are still not going to be able to afford everyone. Copp and Roslovic are going to have to take on a bigger role.
