Description
We have a history of Cap Dumps to work from.

The closest transaction is probably Bickell because TBL's FORCED to trade someone if they want to keep Point...which they do. Much like CHI was.

Bickell's $4M and a Promising 1st round prospect in Teuvo for a 2nd and 3rd round pick.

The adjustments made are that Callahan is $2.8M MORE than Bickell...and Turbo was 18th overall (better pick), but ALSO had NHL playoff experience and was showing more promise. So...TBL should expect a less return than a 2nd and 3rd.

It could be ANY team...I just chose CHI because I was sticking with the closest comp in my opinion.

You cant just have 20 players

Also look at the trouble you're in next year. 70 million committed to just 12 players with corelli, cermak, sergachev and the goalie all up

I don't agree. Callahan is still a very decent player, great on the PK and an experienced leader. A 2nd rounder will be more than enough to find a suitor, as Buf/Mtl/Det/Nj could all be interested in a free pick for one year of Callahan

Oh god, and I didn't even see the AAV for Point. That's definitely not gonna happen, he's not getting more than Kuch even on a 8 years deal.

Agreed! It'll be tough. there's nothing in this plan that says the next 2-5 years are solved, but next year brings a new set of problems...to be solved for tomorrow. Teams might start to plan for Seattle expansion a little more? Maybe a guy like Serg/Foote/Cernak (one of them) gets traded because Seattle's going to grab 1 of them for free?

I think you're under-estimating FORCED nature that TBL's in. AND great for the 2nd point! I'm just posting that there's room and availability if TBL makes 1 swift move. Pick #27 is FAR from a lock to be a stud any way.

***EDIT*** Adjusted his Cap Hit to $9.75M...it's close enough to make the...Point... yeah i went there

Oh no, I know the situation seems messy but it also seems to me that people are underestimating Callahan's value. I agree that Tampa will have to sweeten the deal, but a late first is definitely too much.
I don't know about the #27 pick, I've been looking in depth into players profiles that should still be available by then and with a bit of luck we could draft a very solid player. And we know that Tampa values their draft picks, having the second rounder already gone to the Rangers, I don't see BriseBois and Al Murray keeping themself out of the draft till late third round.

For Point future contract I usually go with this projections https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/15E1qqh3OfHvvhbv_pICfKT7VR1jJEVhWQOyKviWLN54/edit#gid=707766415

You think that getting a guy that's better than any of your 4th liner + a 2nd rounder for free isn't appealing?
If you think that with Callahan you could be able to get a young stud you are definitely overestimating the return

Why would we seek a 5.8 million dollar 4th liner?

We will take him to lower the cost of obtaining other pieces, but not by himself

Because by getting him you upgrade your lineup and you gain a 2nd rounder? Also it's a 5.8M cap hit, but Buffalo will have to pay only 4.7M as salary.

For what it's worth...I don't think a 2nd will be enough either. I mean...even Brooks Orpik which was an intentional buy out and cost a starting goalie. This is ~$6M in cap...and he's really not THAT good. Yeah...4th liner sure, but every team has 4th liners...and probably 4th liners that are younger and could possibly be developed into something more. Callahan is taking that spot.

We could sign 3-4 players with that cap space.

Again, we will take him on to lower the cost of adding better pieces in a bigger trade, but LOL at your idea

I stand by my opinion, we'll talk about it when Callahan will be traded

Give the Rangers Callahan and your first and get back your second from the McDonagh trade. You just drop 1 round.
