Toronto will likely be able to match that offer.

If they get rid of Brown plus one of Kadri, Kapanen or Johnsson without taking cap back then yeah. But theyd still need to improve the defense and no team will give a cheap top 4 defenseman for one of those players

I can see them trading Kadri for a defenseman. I've seen Kadri to Carolina for Dougie Hamilton being thrown around.

Pretty funny. No one is giving up a 1st round pick for TJ Brodie with 1 year left on his deal and expansion draft looming. Flames might get a 2nd and prospect. There's no way anyone is giving up a 4th round pick for Frolik. Flames going to have to pay for someone to take that cap dump.

If they do Kadri + prospects/picks for Hamilton, get rid of Brown and sign Marner to 10+, they'll be over the cap

Yeah, that's the sad thing. Toronto's in a tough spot with having to get Marner back.

I am surprise than you didn't trade Brodie to MTL...
Brodie+ Jank for Shaw (1M retain) + 1st (cond of Brodie signature or becomes a 2nd).. and don't sign Brassard
Solid 3rd line: Neal- Shaw- Bennett

It's insane if you think that Frolik is a cap dump... There was a trade in place for Zucker at the deadline, they clearly didn't see him as a dump, he is a really good defensive defenseman and if not for his contract he would probably fetch a high 3rd. It's ridiculous to look at a guys salary and call it a cap dump without knowing much else about his play.

uh, Frolik is a forward, not a defensive defenseman. They say people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones....

The Flames couldn't give him away after 2017-2018, but he had a decent bounce-back season this year. I think they could get a 3rd pick for him if they retained salary. They could probably get way more for him as a rental at the trade deadline than to start the season since there would be more teams interested in taking his salary for the last month of the year.

That there was a trade on the table for Zucker. The reports are that it was Frolik & a pick for Zucker. I read another that said it was Frolik and Bennet for Zucker. Doesnt sound like it was 1 for 1. Zucker and his contract isn't a world beater either. You have to really believe playing in Mninny hurt his offense.... $5.5M for 4 more years for a guy who has scored more than 22 goals once. Takes some pretty big balls to take on that contract.

If you can't figure out that I meant defensive forward, you should have more concerns about your glass house than mine.

Zucker is younger quicker, scores more, fits our style better, is all around better and is a guaranteed contract long term. Replacing Frolik with him makes our team better. At the deadline it was Frolik and a pick, now that there are more buyers they have inquired about Bennett and Frolik, that's it. In now way does it diminish the point that Frolik is far from a cap dump. you're literally arguing against your own point.

I just found it funny you couldn't even get Frolik's position right .... made me giggle.

You got a source for the "now that there are more buyers that have inquired about Bennett and Frolik"? I'm sure teams are inquiring about Bennet. He's cheap, still under team control and has more upside.

Frolik.... at 15 goals .... $4.3MM.... and a UFA at the end of the season ....... my guess is he would only be of interest to teams looking to hit the cap floor or move out a bad contract of there own (Eriksson?).
A team could go get Pominville, Chaisson, Vanek, Panik, Filppula, Eberle, Wilson and a half dozen more without giving up a pick. Some would be cheaper, some would be more expensive. But you wouldn't have to give up an asset. My guess is unless hes a throw-in/cap dump/salary equalizer you don't see Frolik moved until after teams have struck out the first week of July and even then he's a cap dump/salary equalizer/throw-in. No one is looking to help the Flames get better by taking salary off their hands so they can add a better player.

It made you giggle.. holy smokes. That's why this conversation is going the way it is.

So in this situation Buffalo doesn't take on a defensive specialist after finishing in the bottom 10 for GA per game? At 4.3 which isn't a big contract anymore, that is an elite penalty killer, for one season at no risk of going over the cap. All for a 4th round pick.. which is just a lottery ticket. They can then extend Frolik likely at a little less if they wanted to have their young guys play more sheltered minutes the same way Tkachuk developed. All you have looked at is points this entire time which paints not eve a quarter of the picture, I'm not sure if you understand that there are 200 feet to the game.

Or Buffalo could keep their asset and use $4.3M to sign Marcus Kruger and Brian Boyle and fill two slots, not one on the PK. They might still have some coin left over for ice cream too. Ryan Carpenter, PE Bellmare, Paajarvi are other UFAs that will cost a fraction and play in your bottom 6 and are good penalty killers. I haven’t just looked at points. I believe you can find excellent penalty killing for much cheaper.

I guess that since you didn’t offer sources, that means you were just making it up about the people calling about Frolik?

Sure and compete with all the other teams looking at those players and try get them to go to basically the Edmonton of the States. That's not the point of the argument here, you said that Frolik was a cap dump, he's not..

Wow. Ok. I’m done here. You claimed that teams were calling about Frolik. I wanted to know how you knew. So you ignore it and just acted like an ass . Good job!

PS you can see they’re penalty killers the same way you can say Frolik is a defensive defenseman... errr forward.
