Little Buyout

Créé par: RFS_90
Équipe: 2019-20 Jets de Winnipeg
Date de création initiale: 15 mai 2019

Description
For me, the most important thing the Jets need to look at is their PK... It was brutal. Which is the reason I've restructured the bottom 6. I've added more defensively responsible players to the bottom 6.

I also added some more goaltender depth, and veteran depth in the org.... because injuries happen... and unloading contracts means losing depth.

The PK didn't suck cause of the players it sucked cause they were doing what the coach wanted them to do.
It's too bad they missed out on Kruger, he probably won't have the Sabres using the same PK strategy that the Jets do.

Gonna take way more then that to get Pulock.

I can agree with you on the PK thing... Coaching was a huge part of it.... that being said, I would like to see Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler take less minutes on the PK, and guys like Roslovic are not going to be able to take on that responsibility. So, upgrading that area of the bottom 6 is an absolute must.

Also, yes... I would have loved Ralph Krueger.

Does having different bottom 6 players matter? I'm not sure it does, Maurice is likely just gonna keep using Scheiffele and Wheeler on the PK anyway.

I think they'll give Maurice till Christmas and if the Jets aren't running like a well oiled machine by then they'll fire him. If they fire him it'll probably be too late to save the season though, I wonder if the Moose coach hasn't been poached away by then if he'll be given the opportunity.

I don't know if it matters or not... But at this point, it's an excuse he has.

I totally agree with you on Maurice, but I don't think he's the only one with, potentially, his job on the line. I think if Chevy gives Maurice better options, and he still doesn't use them... Then the problem is clear. At this point, I am leaning towards your theory, but I also can't blame PoMo for his PK, given the limited options he actually had.

I wouldn't mind seeing Kompon or Woodcroft take over either.

Lol okay.... Please list all the success the Florida Panthers and Winnipeg Jets have had signing UFA's.

That's a really cute thought, but it's just not a reality in every NHL market.

Teams like Florida and Winnipeg make deals like this to bring on players, treat them well, and then sign them.

Allow me to give you examples:

Max Pacioretty - Vegas Golden Knights
Mark Stone - Vegas Golden Knights
Jordan Staal - Carolina Hurricanes
Niklas Hjalmarsson - Arizona Coyotes
Keith Yandle - Florida Panthers
Evander Kane - San Jose Sharks

This kind of thing happens more often than people recognize, because it's typically done by teams that don't get a lot of media attention.... Which is why they have to go through these types deals to get a leg up on Free Agency.

it's you gig I know to get value for trouba. if you want to believe fine. majority of examples are no where near the same situation Florida and Tampa are in. a poor attempt at a red herring

I can't even read that.

I'm just trying to tell you how things work for a lot of the League's teams. It's something teams have been doing for years. Florida, specifically, have done it on several occasions.

Well he was given options after the Hayes trade and still went back to the Little,Laine combo that clearly doesn't work nor did he try three offensive lines even though he had plenty of options for an offensive 3rd line. The way he used Hayes in the playoffs probably should've gotten him fired already. I guess he could've use another penalty killer but between all the guys from the TLC line, Little and Connor how many penalty killers does he need, isn't that enough?

I'm thinking Vincent should get the job, the Moose were the St. Louis Blues of the AHL this season but just missed the playoffs, that's pretty impressive considering the injuries they had and the players they lost from call ups to the Jets.

But that's just the thing... Little and Connor are not ideal penalty killers. Little is great in the circle, but otherwise he's not a great defensive player... Connor has worse D-zone numbers than Ehlers... Who also shouldn't be out there on the PK. The TLC guys solid in those situations, and I don't mind Wheeler from time to time, but they have far too many of the same type of hockey player. An offensive 3rd line is less than ideal. A 3rd line that can score would be great, but it has to be a 2-way line. And then TLC is an energy 4th line. The Jets had a first line, 2/3rds of a 2nd line (until Hayes), a 4th line... And then an AHL 1st line as their 4th line. Which forced them to play their first line against tough matchups.

Like, I'm sorry, but Jack Roslovic is an Eastern Conference 2C, or an AHL 1C. Mathieu Perreault is the same thing. He's fine as a 3rd line winger if you want to be an analytic team that is a borderline playoff team, but teams that win cups don't have players like that. Just look at the teams left... They have guys like McGinn, Melker Karlsson, Wagner, Barbashev.... Jets are too "Soft" in their bottom 6.

Meh, Maurice force feeds people TLC and fans think it's good, they're not that great defensively, they're on the ice for their fair share of goals against and it's not always against the other teams top lines. Is there another team that's 3rd line is its shutdown line? Habs fans on this site claim Danault is their center that goes up against other teams top lines and he put up 50 points.
I think you're being a little hard on those guys, they barely played enough to show if they could hold their own or not.

I didn't say shutdown.... Philip Danault is a perfect example. Yes, they can score, but they offer more than just offense... That's what I'm saying. TLC was an okay line defensively, but they give you nothing offensively... The Roslovic line had offensive potential, but give you absolutely nothing else.

You need a line that can regularly chip in offensively, but are mostly hard to play against. The Jets don't have that. They have lines that are very good at either of those options, but no lines that can give you some of both.

The Bozak line in St. Louis is one that comes to mind.

Ahhh the Bozak line, so in Friedmans 31 Thoughts recently he mentioned that Maroon was available earlier in the season and probably could've been acquired pretty cheaply from the Blues but there was no takers. So let's say had the Jets acquired him would a line of Maroon-Little-Roslovic (which is very similar to the Bozak line) even crossed Maurice's mind? Even if it did nothing can get past Maurice's love affair with the TLC line, until Chevy takes some of the parts of that line away from Maurice (or Maurice is fired) this team isn't going anywhere.
There are a multitude of line combos that could be tried with this existing roster and who knows what might work/be effective but the coach just keeps rolling out the same thing over and over.

I'm not sure exactly how many times I have to agree with you about Maurice ... But yes, this is true.

And once again, it's not the offensive numbers of the Bozak line I am after... I know that the Jets have to players to perform offensively. I'm looking for more players who can combine that Offensive ability with defensive responsibility...

Andrew Copp is a great example. I'm a huge fan of his, but they need a couple more guys like him.

I'm not against Jack Roslovic... I'm just not as high on him as a lot of people. I'd just like to see more balance is all.

Maurice is part of the problem, but he's not the entire problem.
