OP gave them shorter terms, thats why money is lower. 80% of ppl on this side are ignoring the fact that $$ nad Term always go hand in hand....

Less money for shorter term only works on young players where you are paying them for a higher percentage of rfa years in comparison to ufa years. For example, if a player has two rfa years left, a three year deal might be worth 9 mil, a 3 mil AAV. Each year you add will be at least, say, 4 mil because these are all ufa years when they could sign anywhere.
But on e you hit ufa it's all about security for the player. He might take less AAV for more term, but not the other way around.

Older players will not sign for less on short term deals, Bobrovsky 7 x 10 Panarin 7 x 10.5 and Karlsson 7 x 12 that's what they're seeking. And even in Florida they wont accept less.
