It doesn't have to happen though. You overpaid all three. Marner at max is 10 mil and that's an overpayment. They just offered Johnsson 2.1 not 3.9, and I would throw up if I have to watch Kapanens skate fast-miss the net plays at the price of 3.9

Not true. Zaitsev is as good as gone. Tried moving him last year. I highly suspect Marleau won't be on the roster ( that's another argument I'm not getting into but he's not playing another year for 1.25 mil) and then Kadri will go. All three are staying

Also without Matthews Johnsson is a fringe 3rd line player. He lugged both them around all season and pumped their stats up

If Johnsson and Kap want that much money, trade one or both. Get an elc or smaller contract in return and move on. Nylander is better than both and his contract will be amazing when he scores 80+ points this coming season.

Marleau and zaitsev are untradeable. I like Marleau he is good but he ain't going anywhere, zaitsev just sucks and costs too much, was horrible in playoffs. Oilers dont want overpaid piggy back players like nylander cause they have enough of those. Oilers would take kapanen tho
