Take that 2nd round pick out going to Calgary. No chance it's included if Toronto is taking Neal. Even on retained salary

I had a 3rd originally, but thought an argument could be used for Nylander's current value as it has diminished. It was for taking a young, big C/RW and Andersson.
I feel the Flames would ask for something else, so maybe a 3rd or 4th?

Think Nylander needs to be given a break and see how next year goes. He went through an ugly hold out and it probably had an effect on him more than just being in game shape. I think he'll be way better next year.

Quick Breakdown of my thoughts

Calgary absolutely fleeces the Leafs. They get a player who is down on his luck (put in a psuedo-shutdown role with Marleau/Kadri, couldnt produce)

Philly gets absolutely ripped off. Ratcliffe had a crazy good season with the Storm and he could be positioned to be a Top 6 player. Brown is 3rd/4th line at BEST.

Columbus takes the deal 40 times over. They get a late 1st, an upgrade over Jenner and they still get more. Petan has potential, but he could ultimately be our next Leivo unless Babcock adapts.

Carrier had a career year. And he is a decent depth option with Reaves for Vegas. Not sure if they move him for peanuts.

And we need Sparks for expansion. It's either we lose Sparks to waivers or we lose him to expansion. Allows us to keep Kasikuo in the minors. If Sparks survives expansion, then we can ship him off for whatever he is worth at that point. Could be a 1st, could be as low as a 7th.

4th is closer. Yes Nylander had a down year but Neal has a worse one. And Nylander has a better shot at bouncing back and being better long term. There's enough reason to believe that Neal is regressing due to age. Nylander was rough this year because of all the time he missed

I appreciate everyone's input and like that it's constructive instead of the usual " Calgary says a hard no while laughing behind your back #emojis"

Personally, I think Neal with Matthews would bring out the Neal we seen with Vegas (full of confidence). But I agree, Nylander > Neal. He was an acquisition in order to get Andersson.

I only threw in the 1st for the Jenner deal as I figured that would be what it takes to pry him away from the Jackets. He's more physical (and bigger) than Kadri but without the drama. Used as a shutdown role, he isn't there for scoring and has a wonderful cap hit for the next 3 years. Meanwhile, Columbus is on an upswing, could use more Offense, and I think Kadri would be used in such a role which would make him agree to waive his NMC to move. No doubt an over payment, but one that is a win for the Leafs.

Carrier did have a great year which is why I'd like to see his energy on the Leafs. I went with Picks as Vegas will need to shed some Cap this year. Maybe a lower pick and a 7th?

What would be a fair trade for Ratcliffe? Going with Brown as part of the package.

As for the Expansion draft (which I never thought of) wouldn't Sparkes contract be up by that time anyway?
