That makes no sense. Why not compare the 2 defenseman and the 2 forwards instead of mixing it to make it look like its a bad trade?

They are the center pieces of the trade.

It doesn't matter. You compare positions. Kessel>>> Grandlund pk>>> shultz. Looks a lot different now

Kessel isnt that much better than Granlund lol the gap between them is a lot smaller than than the gap between Subban and Schultz. Especially when you consider that Kessel's horrible defense and lazy play was openly creating more scoring chances for the opposition whenever he was on the ice outweighing any impact he was doing offensively.

You're missing the entire point. You compare players that play the same position, dont mix players to make the trade look one sided. And kessels worse offensive seasons are Grandlunds best.

And Granlund actually knows what the defensive zone looks like. For every one point Phil gets he is on the ice for 2 goals against. His terrible play away from the puck and leaking goals against for other teams are no longer outweighed by his offensive numbers. Even then you are trading a guy who is 32 and declining for a younger center/winger who is actually a net positive when he is on the ice still.

Granund at 50-70 points is miles better for a team than Phil getting 80 points while also being a downright liability at 5 on 5.

If you think Kessel is still great you are a box score watcher. His bad play on the ice outweighs his power play inflated point totals. When you are a minus 20 as a ppg player on a team that had a +30 something goal differential that means that said player was consistently on the ice when the opposition was having their scoring chances (which Kessels xGA, Corsi, and pretty much any other possession metric used point to that assessment being true)

Or I just dont care enough to debate. I said my original point about its dumb comparing players that play different positions, and when you compared the players, it makes the trade look extremely lopsided

It is comparing the two centerpieces of the deal its only unfair because it exposes how bad your proposal was. Lazy declining wingers that are 33 dont get #1 Dmen and Granlund is worth more than a meh dman in Schultz
