Trading to get younger. JVR did ok this past season, but the Flyers need to shake up their lineup and they need to acquire those young players and prospects. Compher is a player I really like that can play C and W, who can also put up a decent amount of points. The Flyers also get a 1st round pick from Colorado, as it looks like they will be contending next year. The Avs get an established scorer in JVR.

Big trade here. Trading Voracek is a very controversial move as he has been one of the pillars of the organization for years, but the time has come to build a new core of young players. Florida gets more offensive weaponry in Voracek and the Flyers get a very good prospect, a good roster player to fill the void in Vatrano, and a first and a 3rd round pick.

Don't like the moves besides Rieder. Potential 20-20 guy for a 5th is fine with me. The other 2 are just big steps backwards. The "new core of young players" you mention in the Jake trade is already here. TK, Patrick, Provy, Myers, Sanheim, Lindblom, Coots, Ghost. Plus you can add Frost, Farabee, Rubtsov in the next couple years.

They’ve also indicated they aren’t going to tear down the prospect pool and trade off youth they’ve invested time in to do it. JVR can go sure. Voracek needs to stay. Nothing drastic needs to be done.

JVR needs to stay, what signal would that send out to any FA that if we sign you we can deal you the next season? also JVR will be crucial on the PP and scoring in the dirty areas.

New coach and new general manager. Players know in that situation anyone can be dealt. Doubtful it would be held against the organization

Yeah I debated heavily on trading Voracek initially. I figured since he's already 29 he may not want to play for a non contending organization at this point but now it's clear that he needs to stick around. I really like the Flyer's young prospects however, they'll be an exciting team in a year or 2 tops.
