Mode - plafond salarial: Basique

Description

Don't fall into the trap of overpaying in a trade or giving a UFA a bad contract. Make trades and signings that stick to the plan.

Extensions:
Hall - 8 x 10
Hischier - 7 x 6
Bratt - TBD based on 2019-20 season
Blackwood - TBD based on 2019-20 season
Vatanen - TBD; if he stays healthy and plays like he did in 2017-18, extend him in-season. If it is a repeat of 2018-19, trade at deadline.

Re-unite the line from Hall's MVP season. Expecting growth from Nico and Bratt if they remain healthy.

Sign Nyquist (a proven playmaker) to lineup up alongside Hughes and Palmieri (a proven goalscorer).

Burakovsky is a good addition for the 3rd line. When given a chance, he can add an offensive element to a shutdown 3rd line.

Defensively, there isn't tremendous change. Pysyk's defensive style can be a good compliment for a developing Ty Smith. If this defense doesn't show improvement over last season, there is expected to be a strong defensive market at the deadline next year.

Unfortunately he hasn't found his game in the NHL yet. If a change of scenery is all he needs, this could be a steal for MTL. Etiher way, I don't see a way he ends up succeeding in NJ.

This team would be tissue soft: Bratt, Hughes, Nyquist, Palmieri, Boqvist, Butcher, Smith, and Vatanen all undersized and not great defensively. Would be just more of this year with half the team being injured since they get bullied/ murdered on the ice.

Nyquist has only missed like 7 games in the past 4 years. Also, if you look at the team 2 years ago, there wasn't much sandpaper on that team. What made them successful was their possession play, which ultimately masked their defensive deficiencies. That's how a top pairing of Greene-Vatanen was able to shutdown most teams' top lines that year. If the lack of grit becomes an issue (which I doubt it will), it is pretty cheap to acquire at the deadline.

I think we can both agree they need to improve the defense in the off-season, but I am fairly biased in that I would like to see a heavier lineup. I am not saying fill the team with the Cam Janssens and Dalton Prouts, but get people like Boyle and J. Anderson, people how can play physical but still play 10-15 mins a night. Kinda like Bastian, but I don't know if he will be ready next season.
