Bridge deals are rare now. Part of me can see Marner taking that deal just because of who he will get to play with for those 3 years, then when the Cap has increased over those 3 years he could be asking for 12 a year at the end of that contract.
But.. its hard to walk away from guaranteed money. Marner is a smaller guy, one hard hit and he could be beside Horton on the depth chart and that's why guys are asking for 6-8 year deals.
The trend has been that guys don't bridge but Marner / Toronto's situation could be an anomaly.
