Description

If San Jose plans to sign EK65, they wouldn't be able to match. They also could use the picks.

I understand people not wanting the Rangers to give up the draft picks, but they have very few wingers in the system and desperately need some. The team will also be significantly better next year with the addition of Meier and Kravtsov + development of younger players, so the first will likely be low teens at best.

Insane... you wouldn't trade just this #1 in 2019 for Meier.... and to pay him 7 mil.
Not that I'm huge fan of, but might as well add some $$$ keep picks and sign Panarin.
Jeez overpaying for Marner & four #1 s is better idea...

It would be 2020 picks if it's done after the draft, I'm not sure why it defaults to 2019. But on your point, I would absolutely trade this year's 1st for Meier straight up. Meier is younger and has a lot of room to grow in comparison to Panarin, obviously Panarin would be great, but he's going to be highly bribed to go elsewhere.
