Karlsson+Methot is to Ottawa what Price is to Montreal, without them your team goes nowhere.

Um Anderson is not getting you a 1st. Especially from Calgary. A few others off in value but that one for sure is a no go.

That's the point, it's a rebuild. The goal is to get rid of the players in their prime and become a bad team. That way, we have a bad regular season and get a better draft pick. And with this team, I'd almost guarantee top 5.

Also, Methot had a terrible year. He put up very mediocre non-regular-Methot-like stats, and it really diminished his trade value. Plus he's hooked for $5 million for the next while, and he's already 30. That doesn't help.

Three things. Firstly, Craig Anderson is undervalued. He's had a couple off-years, but when he's on his game, he's a sure fire top 10 goalie. He also performs well in the post-season.

Secondly, he's on a cheap contract, at least for a bonafide starter.

Finally, Calgary is desperate for a good goalie, and therefore would be willing to pay the first. Keep in mind this is next year's first, and Calgary is looking to get back into the playoff hunt with the likes of Gaudreau, Monahan and Hamilton. Also, next year's draft doesn't look to be as deep as this year's, so a 12-17 pick may not have as much value.
