There is 0 chance Bäckström leaves Washington. But if he does it’ll cost you Tavares money. They have very comparable stats I don’t see him leaving for any less than 10-11 million. That 7.5m would be the hometown discount

I agree that Backstrom isn't likely leaving the Capitals but he's 4 or 5 years older then Tavares is so that's not the same UFA situation. As good as Backstrom is if he hits the UFA market I can't see any team giving him similar money to what Tavares got out of Toronto.

If we are acquiring Bellows, I'd love to keep him as we don't have a lot for stud LW prospects....
