Pittsburgh has always said as long as they have Malkin and Crosby they will do what ever it takes to put a competitive team on the ice. Should the Blackhawks use this theory with Toews and Kane?

The Blackhawks have started to settle in under coach Colliton. 2019 has been much better than the first half of the season, but we need to be realistic about where the team actually stands.

Crawford may never be the goaltender he once was.

Keith and Seabrook earned every dollar of their contracts but in hindsight they are not worth where their play is right now. Even Keith is starting to show his age. There is D help on the way, but it will still be 2 years before all the kids can contribute at the nhl level.

The Blackhawks can score, resurgence from Toews and with the emergence of Debrincat, Gus and Strome give the team some offensive punch. After them the cupboards are slim with offensive talent.

Should the hawks spend to the cap next year, trying to sneak back into the playoffs? Or are the fans patient enough to understand that a step backwards can actually be a two steps forward.

The Hawks should end up with a top 10 pick in the draft again this year, and could very easily be in the same position next year.

I am on the fence about wasting a year of Toews and Kane, but future #1 overall pick Alexis Lafreniere could put Chicago back into a position where they can have sustained success. ( Along with the recent high end picks)

Not signing long term high end Free Agents this off season will ensure Debcrincat and Strome can be signed.
