CHI can't bank on getting any Top 3 picks. The team isn't bad enough for that, AND the natural direction of the team is just slightly better than they are now because their biggest area of need (defense) is actually being developed right now...and playing well. There are small areas that I see (and like)...allowing Perlini to play with Strome/Debrincat...he's quietly earning himself another contract. Albeit a small 2-yr prove it deal. Slater is inserting himself into what once was Forsling's spot. I could see Forsling traded in the off season. That Defense needs to get more physical and Slater already has more hits than Forsling and he's played half the games. I also very much like Drake and Kampf together. (2) high motor guys that aren't afraid to mix it up. I think your lines here are pretty spot on for the rest of this season.
Stan's going to have to stay creative with his trades, but more importantly...his signings. Try to get Debrincat/Strome to do the same thing Toews/Kane did...bridge deal. Even if it's a 1 year bridge to get past the Seattle Expansion. Then who knows what the cap will be an who knows what cap gets shed from this team. Oh and Byfield might be #1 OA...centers are more valuable than wingers in general. Not a lock by any means and not the point, but just saying.
