    I get what you're saying, but no way Thornton can retire after the way he played this season. Especially since he still has a year left on his contract.

    I guess, "Fanofthegame" doesn't really understand the mentality of pro athletes. Very, very, very, very rarely do players retire for no reason. Winning a Cup is not a reason to retire. And what is that trade to Arizona all about? That makes less sense than the actual retirement.
