Honestly gonna take more then a first for Shatty....though crazier things have happened
The Flames deal i wouldnt touch with a 10 foot pole. I mean the flames can have Berglund but Elliott....they could get better return then that.

Goalie trade market isn't what everyone thinks it is. I love Ells but the blues style of play has benefitted his career. I'm not taking anything away from him as he has amazing work ethic and is a true professional. I just feel like you need to pick one goalie if you're the blues as both have expiring contracts after next year. Out of curiousity, what more would you ask for from the flames?

idk their 2nd would be like a late first. Ferland, at least to me, is a 3rd liner
honestly i dont know if the blues trade elliott if they want a player in return, 2 2nd rounders might do it

I don't know if the Blues trade Elliot (unless blown away). Their goalie combo at $5m is cheaper than many teams starters. Allen is the future but hasn't played more than 52 games in a year (playoffs included). Elliot is the Blues security blanket in goal.

So if it's 2 2nds I'd sign upshall and take ferland out of the equation

Do you think they'd be ok letting him walk next year for nothing? I feel like his value is as high as it will ever be right now and they should take advantage. Just my opinion.

I think they would, or try and resign him (for a reasonable amount). I don't think they contend for top-2 in the Central with Allen/Enroth combo. Dallas (goalie issues of their own), Nashville, Chicago could all reasonably finish higher than the Blues next year. Wild, Avs, and Jets would need a lot to go right to finish higher. There is also the possibility of a TDL deal.

Hey JD im not calling you out LOL i agree trade elliott when he's got the best value.
ya id rather have Upshall then ferland. but thats me.

Wabit i dont know if the hawks finish higher then the blues, they again have cap issues, and yes they always come back ok but you just wonder how long can you keep doing that

I don't see a reason to mess with the goalie situation. They'll both be free agents after next year; you can figure it out then.

You're also grossly under-paying Schwartz and Backes.

I'm a Wild fan and I wonder the same things about the Hawks. But I know all the headaches that can come from a not great goalie situation. FFS we had Ilya Bryzgalov starting in the playoffs.
