FA
Tyler Myers - A big shot RHD who would bolster the top 4 while Belpedio is developing.

Mike Smith - A change of scenery in a backup role might suit him well. A big upgrade from Stalock. I'm thinking he could be solid backup in a way Ryan Miller has been for the Ducks.

Trades - Nylander, because it's Nylander. Trading Zucker to free up cap space and because the Wild have too many left shot wingers with the new addition of Fiala at the deadline. Pateryn shouldn't be a problem moving out as he's on a cheap contract and he's a RHD. To save cap space again. If the Wild want to keep him on as the 7th D, I would mind that scenario either.

Love the Myers add. I also think that Toronto trade is more realistic than people think. Maybe we'd retain some from Spurgeon.

I like this! Myers with Brodin makes a lot of sense. Nylander obviously makes a lot of sense. And, I'm a big Rasmus Andersson fan...and a fan of trading Zucker. I'm not 100% sure Spurgeon and a 3rd will get Nylander and a 5th, but maybe if you retain some salary (1/2), Toronto would be more inclined... This is mainly because of their cap issues.

And, Toronto fans...don't start chiming in about it's Dumba or no deal. Spurgeon is a spectacular player and currently much better all-around than Dumba. He's the perfect transition age between your youngsters and veterans. Value and Talent-wise, he is easily Nylander's equal.

1 year of 29 yo Jared Spurgeon does not equal 5 years of 21 yo William Nylander.

Once June rolls around, Spurgeon is more or less a rental.

I like Spurgeon a lot, but in no way does this deal make sense for Toronto.

And the Leafs are not going to make a panic move based on the playoffs this year, it's not like their window in closing next year.
