Playoff tweaks to 2019 roster -- Ana Edm Blues and Van

Description
Ignore the cap space number for 2018-19 as the Habs currently can add up to $42,992,124 in contracts.

Edmonton gets $4+M in cap relief and end the Lucic nightmare. They also get a couple of picks that offer some compensation if Puljujarvi finds his NHL footing. Lucic is bought out.

Anaheim gets a prime prospect, another decent prospect, a pick and cap relief for Fowler, a very good defenceman. Habs add Miller as an upgrade as a backup.

Habs shore up the D with Bouwmeester for the third pairing an PP, giving St. Louis two decent young players for an experienced rental.

Dont think Blues trade Bouwmeester based on the way they're playing.

I'd agree, but it has been their habit over the years to cut bait rather than fish. And Bouwmeester has not been a big part of the turnaround. He's playing fine but the Blues are pretty deep at D whereas the Habs need help. If not, could it be beefed up slightly for a try at renting Edler?

Not super excited by the Fowler trade. Suzuki is a nice piece, but I would like a 1st instead of a 2nd. I think Fowler is worth it. However, I am not a part of the fan base that is willing to sell him no matter what. Swap the 2nd to a 1st and I accept that deal.

Dont think Edler will be traded. In fact he's trying to sign an extension with Vancouver. But I think Armstrong thinks this team can win the west at least so i don't see him making the move.

Not sure what what means. Habs wouldn't be giving away any part of the retool other than Suzuki. The rest is all unusable cap space and bit players. If they don't make the playoffs, the likelihood is they'll be drafting around 12-15, and if they go out in the first round, it would be 16-20. If they advance past the first round, all of these moves would be worth it.

Stone is trying to sign an extension with Ottawa, too. Doesn't mean it's likely to happen. My first choice would be Bouwmeester anyway simply because it's tidier. Habs would be unlikely to try to re-sign him whereas with Edler, they would.

Not sure where you see Suzuki fitting in if Puljujarvi were obtained. The Habs are suddenly stacked at centre and, at RW, there's Gallagher, Shaw, (Puljujarvi) and a bunch of worker bees. If Poehling signs and has a good camp, then Domi probably moves back to the wing, leaving Byron, Lehkonen and Tatar fighting for scraps. For the next 3-4 years, Fowler would be far more integral to the Habs' success than Suzuki is likely to be.

No idea what you're talking about. I am a Ducks fan. Merely commented that the 2nd round pick should be a 1st because Fowler is worth that kind return.
