There have been rumors about the Islanders wanting Kovalchuk, but I'd really hate to see them trade for him. I'd much rather we get Toffoli, who's younger, cheaper and playing just as well as Kovalchuk is.


In return, the Kings get an intriguing middle-6 prospect, a former first rounder and another pick in the first two rounds to start their rebuild in earnest.


I contemplated making the pick a first, but I don't think Toffoli has played well enough to fetch it. Maybe that's the asking price, he's been playing better lately, but I'm not sure it is.
