Description
Some trades that possibly make sense for both teams. Carolina needs to reload and is loaded with defensive prospects. Still think Detroit may need to add more to get the deal done but its a possibility. Jordan Staal will likely want out now that Eric is gone and Detroit needs help down the middle. Wisnewski hasn't performed well in Carolina and needs a new change. Essentially Howard and Wisnewskis contracts are swapped. Detroit needs help on the back end and Carolina needs help in goal. Smith is given a second chance in Dallas which needs defence. Also Jurco is sent to Philly which also has a surplus of defensive prospects. Detroit gets younger on the back end and builds towards the future. Most contracts that were added were 1 or 2 year deals which gives the team flexibility for the upcoming years. Let me know what you think.

That Carolina deal would not happen. They have 11 picks already in the 2016 draft. your asking them to take a $7.5M useless hit, a $5.5M goalie who is shaky and two prospects to go along with a 3rd 1st round pick? In return Detroit gets a 20 goal scoring team leadership guy, a prospect who has only played in the NHL during his first pro season and a decently productive Defenseman. What is in this for Carolina? Oh and Brendan Smith is not worth a 3rd round pick, but good thinking with that dump. Lastly, as much as everyone wants it, Ericsson will be in a wings jersey next season. They will not get rid of that guy even though he has one of the worst contracts.

As for expensive goalies, it's a buyer's market. I'd expect the return to be mid-level prospects or draft picks, rather than roster players.

I hope the Wings don't give up Chevy and our first this year for that package

I like WingFanBT9 analysis. rednwhite, you are correct when you suggest that the Canes need goaltending. How is obtaining Howard a solution? They should do what you did....sign Johnston

Personally I think the Wings only missing component to us beating Tampa in the first round is Dan Cleary. If we had him up during the playoffs we couldve won.

PP1 = Cleary - Cleary - Cleary with Cleary and Cleary
PP2 = Cleary - Datsyuk - Cleary with Cleary and Cleary
