After hearing that DS is in talks with Erikson, I have a feeling they're gonna be signing him at market rate. I also don't think they have the assets to get a top dman in a trade, so they'll be settling for a 2nd tier guy like Brodin. There are a lot of teams looking for what the Bruins are looking for and they have better contracts to trade and/or better draft picks. I just don't see how the Blues would trade Shattenkirk for a package of a mid first round pick and Pastranak, Spooner, or Vatrano when a team like Edmonton could offer the #4 pick and Eberle, Hall, or Nugent-Hopkins. As for Trouba - I think Winnipeg would do a trade with the B's if it involved Krejci, as Winnipeg has the cap space and have difficulty getting guys of his caliber in free agency. However, no way Krejci waives his no trade clause to go to Winnipeg. Brodin is still an upgrade to their D, but not a huge difference maker that they need. I think they're in for years of mediocrity, unless they get lucky with Some draft picks and come up with some studs.
Also - I think they hold Hayes and Seidenberg this year as cap space isn't a huge concern for 16-17. But they'll be prime buy out candidates in 17-18.
