Panarin and Bobrovsky won't be that cheap and Allen probably doesn't get you Carlsson, also even though that Pietrangelo trade would really strengthen Tampa they are shooting themselves in the foot for the future

I agree. No reason for TB to make that trade

If Tampa doesn't win then they could easily make this trade. McDonagh and Hedman are signed for multiple years and they don't trade Foote for their future on the right side. It makes a lot of sense actually.

You might get a couple 3rds for Allen, not a good defensive prospect and 2nd. Panarin and Bon want more. Schwartz probably doesn't get you those two.

So this isn't a dead line trade?

I'm not sure the Isles make that trade due to the scoring drought Schwartz has been on all year. I think Blues would be selling Schwartz at his nadir.

No, this looks to be a trade at the draft or sometime in the off season

If Allen can bring a couple of 3rd round picks, make that trade twice and get out of town quick!

Agreed. Two 3rds is what Detroit would have got from Philly if Mrazek resigned after the trade last season. Since he didn't and has a similar resumé as Allen I figured two 3rds is reasonable

Good comp. I'll bust a gut if the Blues actually get two thirds for Allen though. Heck, I'd do back flips if they got any pick for him, and I'm pushing 50 and would likely hurt myself.

I doubt it too. But a team desperate enough for goaltending and could see him as a reclamation project would easily pay it. Maybe Carolina if they buy out Darling? Maybe Calgary wants him as a backup? Who knows.

I do agree with you that giving up on Allen's career now is myopic. The dude is crazy athletic and has been good before. Heck, he stole the show against Minnesota in the playoffs a couple years ago. He's just so weak-minded and overplays pucks so much. You'd think Marty Brodeur could have screwed his head on straight, but....no. I do think if he got a fresh start with a low-pressure team, he could become a solid goaler.

If the Devils can get rid of Schneider's contract, maybe they take a chance on Allen. Allen played his best under Brodeur's tutelage (Minnesota playoff round and that half regular season), might as well try to strike at iron twice

Moving Schneider after hip replacement surgery might prove more difficult than moving Allen after starter replacement surgery.

New Jersey can buy him out. It's a savings of 4 mil the next 3 year's and only cost 2 mil the 3 years after

They might just do that too, although Kinkaid hasn't given any assurances tonight that he's the future.

Kinkaid is 30 I think so I don't think he was considered the future anyway(also UFA). Mackenzie Blackwood is their "future" guy right now

I totally agree. Blackwood looks pretty good from what I've seen of him. Allen would make a good bridge then backup for Blackwood methinks. Make it happen, Army!

2 Elite left-handed defenseman in front of him on the depth chart and the opportunity to add an elite RH defenseman seems reason enough for me.
