Toronto needs cap space and a couple less expensive player. Glendening is a really good defensive player and a excellent faceoff guy, plus he was one a favorite of Babcock. Jensen is a really good skater and has become a solid defenseman who can play a lot of minutes. In the last year of his contract so if he doesn't work out Toronto just says goodbye.
I think Connor Brown and Detroit would a good fit for both. He would come to Detroit and be a top 6 forward and hopefully get back to the numbers he had in 2016-17 or better. Zaitsev is different, right now I think he's a top 4 or a pretty good 5th defenseman. It isn't his just his salary but combined with the contract length and his age 27 that almost moves him from asset to a handicap. (In trade value only)
I just think a higher draft pick or a top 10 prospect would help ease the anxiety caused by Zaitsev's contract.
