Vancouver misses the playoffs with this trade.
I dont know the Winnipeg players at all, but it looks like 3 legit NHL players for 4 farm teamers to me.
Winnipeg probably doesn't have the cap space to do this anyways.

Vesalainen is a Future first liner and Niku a potential top pair dman. Appleton will be a top 9 guy and Stanley should make it to the top 4. I realized the cap was off and was going to put in description to ignore but couldn’t be bothered to do so

How about adding Vancouver's next 2 2nd rounders as well and retain Tanev salary 50% @arafay

Those prospects are our future keys to success. They will not be traded.

Those 2nd rounders will be raw and far from the NHL while the jets need ELC's as of next season

So you mean to tell me the Jets will replace anyone in the top 6 and or top 4 with any one of these guys in the next 3-4 years?

No because they have a stacked team but on most other teams these guys will be able to fill into those roles

Well we have no 2nd pair LD so Niku is the obvious fit. Vesalainen will probably be as good if not better than connor. Appleton will be a solid 3rd liner (Armia type). Stanley could go either way. He already is really good in the D-zone and he is starting to find his scoring touch in the AHL. I see potential for Stanley to be a Myers caliber player eventually.
So potential Wise:
Niku - Top Pair
Vesalainen - 1st line winger
Stanley - Top 4 LD
Appleton - 3rd liner

Perreault is almost guaranteed to be gone next season. Same for Kulikov. Niku will be in the lineup as a replacement for Kulikov and so could Stanley for chiarot. Appleton already has one

Yes precisely so why @arafay would you keep these guys when you can bring other guys in to get you over the hump. The goal is to win a cup not just be steadily good and not get over the hump.

Cap to be frank. Key guys will be gone next year and they need to be replaced with cheaper talent. This is why clubs like Tampa are so heavy on ELC's. its the only way they can stay under the cap. Trading our top 4 ELC's for expensive players hurts both our short-term success and long-term success. Imagine if Laine and Connor bothwere on extensions this season. That would mean that 10 million in salary would have to be cleared.

The fact of the matter is that this trade is not even close to even. Its like saying Little, Copp, Appleton for Petterson, Dahlen, Goldobin, julolevi before this year when pettersson broke out. It is a lose for the Canucks clearly right? So why would the jets win in the scenario proposed by Badgm91?

Pretty sure thats not even close. Petterson, Juolevi are top 5 picks, Goldobin top 20 and Dahlen top of 2nd round. Appleton and Niku are 6th and 7th rounder and Vesalainen and Stanley mid 1st round picks.
So you get an establish top 6 winger (Baertschi) worth both Appleton and Stanley. Goldobin+Tanev Gets you Niku and Vesalainen. With my proposal of adding 2 2nd rounders and retain 50% tanev, I do not see why WPG says no to either of those. picks included or not.

How good a player is not determined by draft status. Scheifele was drafted 8th OA. If a redraft were done he would go top 3. I am not talking about value, I am talking about practicality. taking away cheap ELC years for good players will hurt the jets. This is NOT fair no matter what you say or add. Vesalainen alone should get the package suggested above by badgm91and would still not be traded. Trading away your 4 best prospects for a 2nd - 3rd pair RD, a 3rd line winger and a B prospect will not help you. Add the 2nd rounders and it doesn't matter too much - just add 2 more B prospects.

WPG loses this trade all day everyday. Period
