I could see Howard going to Buffalo as a possible landing. I don't see that deal you have happening without some sort of pick going back to Buffalo too. They are not giving up 23 year old pretty good prospect for Howard. There is a better way to do the Franzen LTIR for better CAP relief. I like the idea of shipping out Smith. Your Dekeyser contract is nowhere near what he will get. Ericsson's bonehead contract will get Dekeyser closer to $4.5M for 4-6 years. Also Marchenko is going to make over $1M, not taking a paycut to be an everyday player. Overall not bad for a team eating the Datsyuk contract.

Buffalo is not a destination for Howard. Sabres like Robin Lehnerer and can sign an inexpensive goalie back up. You can't find a place for Howard unless money comes back to Detroit and "bad" money at that.
