What we can actually expect

Description
The leafs will leave the goaltending situation as is, no need to get a good goalie and steal more Ws when they're still rebuilding. Take advantage of the expansion and get a good young guy in year. The Leafs won't go after Stamkos, it doesn't make sense, especially if they draft Mathews (which is what I'm assuming) even though Laine is having a killer World Championships. They may make a small splash on D but that's about it. Expect the big moves come 2017-2018 when Hunwick, Laich, Michalek, Greening, Robidas and Bernier will all be off the books.

So Niko, I can live with that, if thats how it plays out. It would be a fun season watch the gang grow. I do think Brown gets a goig before Sosh next year…

However, I think there are going to be sensible moves that make this team much better this year without terribly sacrificing the really good young players we have. Mike, Lou and Brendan have all commented that changes are coming. Lou's comment was that if he do they things he wants (other teams/players co-operating), 50% of the team will turnover. They don't get namy chances to sign a young generational centre like Stamkos, even Bob MacKenzie thinks they take a hard run at him. Stammer's youth, leadership and work ethic are exactly what the slightly younger players in Toronto need. So, if your doing Stammer, you need at least one goalie and one very solid top 4 D. Personally, I like Demers and Andersen. Go Leafs

What's the super big hurry in get a goalie. You know Bibeau might be the guy. Certainly another year of development and evaluation would not hurt before moving (if you have to ) on a goalie.
Regarding Stamkos....who knows? Did you anyone really see the Babcock signing? No. Dubas was the assistant GM at the draft, Lou wasn't even hired. Did anyone know about Dubas or Lou being hired? Unbelievable this group has been very good at keeping their intentions to themselves.....The trades of Kessel, Phanuef almost out of the blue, certainly Phanuefs'a.
Stamkos would be "young generational centre" but so might Matthews or so might Tavares or McDavid, or goaltender Price. Patience.

No hurry for a goalie if you ask me, not this year at least. Maybe come 2017 we should make a push for one. I also believe that another Top D Man is needed but i think there's a wealth of talent in the forwards that they need little to no tweaking this upcoming season and maybe sign the like of John Tavares when he's a UFA next year. Who knows? I do know I'm looking forward to an interesting offseason. Mathews has the potential to be a #1 centre and he looks amazing but Laine is tearing up this world hockey championship, he certainly can't e ignored and must be considered. Might even benefit the leafs to draft a winger. If they do take a run at an established #1 centre in free agency then why have a guy like Kadri as your 3rd line centre making that kind of money. Not drafting mathews keeps Kadri as your #2 centre and keeps the depth chart in balance

Haha, you might both be right, patience is a good idea, but lets look at Goalie's opportunities pragmatically.

Leafs goaltending sucks, we need a stopper! Respectfully, I do not believe Sparks or Bibeau are the answer. The expansion draft is 12 months is the event that will shake a really good perhaps even great goalie. So, it's likely a deal for a legit goalie is made in that time frame. The teams with two decent goalies (and CAP issues) are the Ducks, Blues and Lightning. So, most likely possibilities boil down to Andersen (Ducks keeping Gibson), Allen (Elliot is the go to) or Bishop/Vas. Honestly, anyone of those guys works for me but because Andersen is the most likely to trade now as an RFA, so lets do that…
