Description
The team spends some money now that they're loaded with prospects and ready to compete. Both trades fill the needs of the teams involved; The Oil get a big minute RHD and a guy they can plug in at 3C, the Jets get a 1A/1B situation at center with Scheifele and RNH. The lesser deal with Calgary gives the Flames an experienced starter and depth D for a another PP option for the Jets. The Peg overpay Yandle (but as the best FA Dman available he'll get it somewhere) to be Buff's partner on the top pair. This is an exciting playoff team with a good future.

Very unlikely WPG will deal Myers, especially after just acquiring him. They will feel obligated to hang on to him.

That's a lot to pay Yandle but the way that WPG's contracts work out here, there would be very little cap trouble with prospects already in line to take over for free agent's leaving . Excited to see how WPG develops in a few years.

If the deal makes sense then there is no reason not to make it. It appears to work for both teams and it's not like WPG needs Myers. There are also multiple examples of teams trading players shortly after acquiring them. Jones, Vanek, Halak to name a few. Not sure why WPG would feel obligated.

I would also point out that the Myers trade was more about Winnipeg wanting to be rid of Kane as it was about acquiring Myers. We still have Lemieux, Armia, Roslovic and Stafford to remind us of Evander.

Like the trades. Yandle doesn't to want to Winnipeg. He's eyeing California. There are certainly good and cheaper options.
